Publish your first KDP book without learning KDP.
Tell Claude "make a dinosaur coloring book for ages 4 to 8". KDP Autopilot picks the subjects, draws and checks the pages, lays out a print-ready interior and full-wrap cover, writes the listing, and fills in every KDP page in your Chrome. It stops and asks before anything legal or final.
Coloring books, large-print word search and Kindle ebooks. One-time purchase.
KDP is easy to join and slow to learn.
The first book usually takes weeks of forum threads and rejected uploads. These are the details KDP Autopilot already knows, for every book it builds:
- Trim & margins
- 8.5 × 11 in paperback, 8.25 × 11 in hardcover, safe margins, no-bleed interiors.
- Spine width
- Computed from page count and paper, so the cover wraps without a rejection.
- Cover file
- Back, spine and front in one PDF, with a clear box where KDP prints the barcode.
- Free ISBN
- Assigned in the flow, with trim and ink chosen before the upload.
- AI disclosure
- The three AI-content questions answered truthfully, with the tools you used.
- Listing
- Title, subtitle, description, 7 keywords under 50 characters, 2 categories.
- Royalty math
- Prices set against print cost, so a $9.99 coloring book earns about $3.15.
- Weekly limits
- New-title slots per format tracked, so you stay within KDP's weekly limit.
Four requests, from empty folder to submitted title.
Set up once
Ask Claude to set up KDP Autopilot. It walks you through the disclaimer, prepares the engine, creates your studio folder and pen names, checks your KDP account and runs a free test build.
Find a niche
Ask for this week's books. Claude reads the real Best Sellers Rank of the top organic results for about 15 candidate niches and picks the ones where new books actually sell.
Build the book
Ask for "a coloring book about sea animals" or "a large-print word search on gardening". Claude generates the art, rejects frames, text, gray fills and bad anatomy, then builds the interior PDF, cover and listing, and runs QA.
Publish with you
Say "publish it". Claude fills in KDP in your Chrome at human pace, asks for your yes on the legal declarations, then adds A+ Content once the title is live.
Plain-language requests work everywhere. Installed as a Claude Code plugin, the same steps are also available as /kdp-setup, /kdp-weekly, /kdp-book and /kdp-publish.
What it makes, and what each book costs to make.
| Book | Format | Inside | Your API cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kids' coloring book | Paperback 8.5 × 11 | 30 single-sided drawings, 64 pages, ages 4 to 8 | ≈ $0.66 |
| Large-print word search | Hardcover 8.25 × 11 | 72 to 90 themed 15 × 15 puzzles with solutions | $0 (cover art $0.04) |
| Kindle ebook | EPUB + cover JPG | Practical nonfiction or fiction, 6,000+ words, 5+ chapters | ≤ $0.04 |
Images are drawn with Google Gemini on your own key, through the batch API. A weekly spend cap (default $1.50) stops it before it goes further.
Straight from the PDFs the skill builds.
Every drawing passes the same checks before it reaches the PDF: no frames, no text, no gray fills, no broken anatomy, no near-duplicates.
Every book ends as four files you can check.
The pages, laid out at trim size with fonts embedded.
Full wrap: back, spine, front, sized to the page count.
Everything typed into KDP: title, description, keywords, categories, price.
970 × 600 header and 600 × 600 images for the product page.
You can stop here and upload by hand. Publishing through Chrome is optional.
Built to protect your account.
- Claude never ticks a legal declaration or clicks Publish without your explicit yes in the chat.
- Any KDP warning, verification or account notice stops the run and is written to a stop file.
- Research runs at human pace and stops at the first CAPTCHA. It never solves one.
- No brands, famous characters or real people in titles, keywords or art.
- Titles only promise what the book contains: page count, ages, solutions.
- Your API key stays in a local file you edit yourself. The skill never asks for it in chat.
No income claims.
KDP Autopilot was built and used to publish real titles in October 2026: paperback coloring books, hardcover word search and Kindle ebooks, with A+ Content approved within minutes.
Sales estimates come from public Best Sellers Rank through an approximate formula. They help you avoid dead niches. They do not predict your income, and many books sell little.
Amazon decides what stays live. You are responsible for what you publish under your name.
Before you buy
What do I need?
Claude Code on a Pro or Max plan with the Claude in Chrome extension, macOS or Linux, uv and poppler, a Google Gemini API key with billing enabled, and a free KDP account.
Do I need to know KDP or code?
No. Setup explains each KDP term the first time it comes up. You talk to Claude in plain language; it runs the engine for you.
Will it publish without me?
No. The weekly run can research and build books unattended, but publishing always happens with you present and your confirmation.
Does it use my Claude API credits?
It runs on your Claude subscription. The only pay-per-use cost is Gemini image generation on your own key, capped per week.
What if KDP changes its pages?
The publishing steps find fields by their visible labels and record what changed in a notes file in your studio. Updates to the skill are included.
How do updates and support work?
When KDP changes a page, the skill is updated and new versions are published here and on Agensi. For questions, write to hello@skillcask.com.
Is it affiliated with Amazon?
No. KDP Autopilot is an independent tool. Amazon, Kindle and KDP are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
